Senior citizens
The Tamaqua Seniors met March 15 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 82 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided an inspirational reading.
Rose Vallee gave the invocation entitled "At Last It's Spring." Reports were offered by Vice President Nancy Gerber and secretary Joan Anne Garber.
Harry Heffelfinger is on the sick list and Pat Regalis is home from the hospital. A trip to Knoebels is planned for June 20.
The group meets every Thursday, at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.
Salvation Army
Sunday services at the Tamaqua Salvation Army are held at 11 a.m. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m.
Weekly activities include: Tuesday, men's and women's fellowship meets at 5 p.m., youth drama meets at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Timbrels, Bible study and prayer meeting at 5 p.m.; Thursday, youth group meets at 4 p.m., band rehearsal at 5:30 p.m.
Basic computer classes are being held every Tuesday and Thursday for the next eight weeks. Next month, the free computer classes will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 6-7:30 p.m. Call (570) 668-0410 for more information.
St. Peter's Union
The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m. Confirmation class is 11:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, the Cub Scout committee meeting is 5 p.m. and the Cub Scouts will meet at 6 p.m.
Activities for next week will include: Monday, Women's Bible Study will be at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, the midweek Lenten service will be at Zion's Stone Church at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, the prayer group will meet at 5 p.m.; Saturday, Warriors of Faith spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m.
The choirs rehearse every Thursday. Next week's schedule will include junior choir at 7 p.m. and the senior choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.
Calvary UM
The Rev. Edward Bean will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.
Also on Sunday, a praise, worship and Bible study session will be held at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Bean will offer a message entitled "The Key That Unlocks."
On Wednesday, the Lenten service will begin at 7:15 p.m. with a hymn sing, followed by a worship service at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Sunny Stock will present the message at the March 28 service.
First Methodist
The Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church. Children's Sunday school is held during the worship service and Adult Sunday school will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Activities for next week include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, chancel choir rehearsal is at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, there will be a Seder demonstration at the church at 3:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
