Zoning permits

The Schuylkill County Zoning Office issued 16 permits in February which netted $2,475 in fees and the estimated cost of construction was $473,460. Permits were obtained by the following:

Gerald J. Sternick, Cass Township, new home, $205,500 estimated cost; Michael B. Hallick Jr., East Norwegian Township, garage, $15,550; Jason J. and Dana M. Gawrylik, Union Township, in ground swimming pool, $11,500; Dieter Construction Company, addition to an existing ambulance building in Tower City, $80,000; Paul and Elizabeth Ruth, Porter Township, storage building, $16,760; Garry and Debra Leib, Gordon, shed, $4,000; Michael Heffron, Cass Township, garage, $4,000; Roberta Barrett, Frailey Township, shed, $3,000.

Also, Douglas Nafzinger, Auburn, garage, $7,200; Rodney Schnoke, Washington Township, pigeon loft, $950; Andrew Sukeena, Frackville, in-ground swimming pool, $16,000; Brian and Monica Schneck, Washington Township, in-ground vinyl liner pool, $35,000; Ken and Roxanne Kelly, Washington Township, in-ground pool, $30,000; James W. Mitchell, Union Township, garage, $25,000.

Contempt court

Daniel Paulino, 24, Shenandoah, after a hearing was found guilty of contempt of court by President Judge William E. Baldwin for appearing late for his scheduled court appearance. He was fined $100 plus costs.

Revoke ARD

Bryan Christopher Meehab, 22, Schuylkill Haven, was removed by Judge John Domalakes from the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program, reserved for first offenders to allow them to serve a probation period to clear their name. At a hearing it was reported he was arrested in Center County while on probation. He now must stand trial on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Loses appeal

Christian Camargo, 29, Minersville, lost his appeal from a summary conviction by a district judge for violating the motor vehicle code. Judge Domalakes adjudged him guilty and ruled the sentence imposed by the district judge stands.

Carmargo on a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $500, on a charge of speeding, 75 miles-per-hour in a 55 zone on SR61 in West Brunswick Township, was fined $65 and for failing to wear his seat belt fined $10 plus costs.

Guilty plea

James Garulle, 53, Shenandoah, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was sentenced by Judge Miller to serve six months on probation, pay a fine of $300, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education fund, a $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, $50 to Catastrophe fund, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, submit to random drug screens and attend the Clinical Outcomes Group classes. On summary charges of failing to obey a traffic signal and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $50 plus $100 costs.
