Published February 22. 2017 01:08PM

Two people were slightly injured in a rear-end crash at 9:24 a.m. Feb. 20 on Route 100 in Lowhill Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said Terry L. Fritzinger, 68, of Germansville, the driver of one of the vehicles, and Marguerite A. Nielsen, 78, of New Tripoli, a passenger in the other vehicle, received "suspected minor injuries." Fritzinger was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, by the Cetronia EMS.

Police said Fritzinger was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion that was southbound on Route 100, approaching the intersection with Claussville Road, when the vehicle traveled up an embankment, came back onto the road and rear-ended a 2012 Nissan Altima operated by Dale Nielsen, 81, of New Tripoli, causing disabling damages to both vehicles. Police said the impact pushed the Altima into a concrete triangle while the Fusion crossed over Claussville Road and struck a guide rail.

Fritzinger was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
