JROTC Awards Night
The Panther Valley JROTC will hold its awards night on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Summit Hill
Volunteers needed
Volunteers are being sought to help with a new summer food service program that will begin in June in Summit Hill.
The program will provide free lunch to all school-aged children in the Panther Valley School District.
The lunches will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning June 6 and continuing through Aug. 24, at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, 1 W. Hazard St.
The volunteers are being sought to help serve the lunches. Those volunteering do not have to attend all five weekdays. Even one-day-per-week volunteers will be appreciated.

Food pantry news
Parking restrictions have been listed for the monthly distribution of food commodities by the Summit Hill Food Pantry. The distribution is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22, at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, Hazard and Chestnut streets.
Those attending are reminded no-parking will be allowed in the alley adjacent to the church prior to 9:45 a.m. Parking is also prohibited on the adjacent lot which is private property.
The distributions will take place between 10 a.m. and noon only.
Participants are also asked to note there will be no mini-pantry distributions at this time. The next mini-pantry program will be announced in this column or participants will be notified of the next mini-pantry during regular distributions.
The regular distributions are on the fourth Tuesday of each month, as opposed to the last Tuesday.
Lansford
Novena planned
St. Katharina Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will hold a novena to St. Rita from Sunday through Tuesday, May 20-22, with sessions at 6:30 nightly.
The Sunday session will include a Mass and novena prayers, while on Monday, participants will attend Mass and a blessing of roses will follow. The Tuesday night program will include Mass, novena prayers and anointing of the sick.
Little Angels
The Little Angels Pre-School, a division of Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is now accepting registrations for the 2012-2013 school year.
Classes are held at the OLOAA school building in Lansford. There are two programs, as follows: 3-year-olds, who attend half-day sessions two days a week; and 4-year-olds, who attend sessions three days per week with full-day session options.
The school also offers a school care program called ECP.

Coaldale
First Congregational Church
Morning Worship will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 20, at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m.
Rehearsal for the Memorial Day Community Choir will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the church. Anyone who would like to participate in the choir is welcome to attend. The community choir will sing at the Memorial Day Service at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 27. The public is invited to attend this service which will honor all veterans.
Registrations are currently being accepted for Vacation Bible School, which will be held 6-8 p.m. July 9-13.
