Helping out the animals

Published June 30. 2012 09:01AM

Dear Editor:

Recently I had the privilege of adopting an Old English Mastiff named "Mama Duke" from the Carbon County Animal Shelter in Nesquehoning.

When I went up to pick her up I also took along a load of supplies to donate to the shelter. Items included raw hides, milk bones, Clorox, and assorted soft "yummy" treats.

I saw on Facebook recently they have posted an updated "wish list" so I wanted to share it with fellow animal lovers who want to help out the items they are in most need of are flea and tick shampoo, garbage bags, disinfectant wipes, dish washing liquid, sponges, Brillo pads, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, pine sol (need not be name brand), and wet and canned dog food.

You can drop donated items off at the shelter at 63 Broad St. in Nesquehoning and if you're looking for a dog check out the animal shelter as there are many loving dogs in need of homes. Thank you in advance for helping out the animals in our community. Please remember to spay and neuter your pets!

Sincerely,

Tom Zimmerman IV
