The Northwestern Lehigh and Northern Lehigh girls had an big day in Colonial League cross country action on Tuesday.

The Northern Lehigh girls went 3-1 in its Colonial League meet on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs' Sam Corcoran led the locals with a fifth-place finish. Teammate Rachel Hendrix (10th) also finished in the top ten.

Alex Haffner was the highest Bulldogs to finish on the boys' side. He came in 23rd.

Northern Lehigh's Gavin Kemery won the middle school mixed run with a time of 11:26.9.

The Lehighton boys dropped meets to East Stroudsburg North and East Stroudsburg South and Jennifer Beers crossed the finish line first with a time of 21:16 in girls competition despite the Lady Indians not having enough runners to compete in the team scored.

Daulton Radler had the best time for the Lehighton boys with a 19:13 to finish 11th.

Pleasant Valley's Dana McAllister finished first in the Bears meet with Stroudsburg to help her team beat the Mounts. Stroudsburg won the boys event.

Catasauqua

In a Colonial League meet run at Bicentennial Park in East Penn Township, Northwestern's Tyler Stelmack topped the field by 51 seconds (16:35); however, Northwestern was only able to win one of its four contested races (a 19-36 victory over Pen Argyl). Palmerton's lone win came against Northwestern 22-28, as David Fitzpatrick paced the Bombers in 11th place.

In the girls meet, Northwestern won all four of its races against Notre Dame, Pen Argyl, Moravian Academy and Palmeton. The Lady Tigers placed five runners in the top-10, with Erica Sarnicky leading the way with a fourth-place finish. Emma Kemmerer and Natalie Boehm finished in fifth and sixth respectively for the Tigers. Palmerton's lone win was a 23-32 victory over Catasauqua. Andrea Stevko was the top Lady Bomber with a 14th-place finish.

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Pottsville scored two goals late in the second half to come from behind and beat Jim Thorpe, 2-1.

The Tides' Shavinsky Thomas scored with 14:49 remaining to give his team the lead and the eventual win.

The Olympians' Steven Principe tallied the game's first goal early in the second half.

The Tide had a 12-5 edge in shots on goal. Kaminsky had 10 saves for the Olympians.

Palisades-Northwestern

Palisades scored three first-half goals, en route to a 4-0 Colonial League shutout of Northwestern.

Bobby Kroschwitz scored the first two goals for Palisades, while Kyle Creighton tacked on the final two scores for the Pirates. Max Kroschwitz assisted three of the four goals.

Palisades held a 17-8 advantage in shots on goal.

Northwestern goal keeper Talon Williams made 11 saves.

The JV game finished in a 1-1 tie.

No. Schuylkill-Tamaqua

In a match played on Monday night, Tamaqua turned in a 2-0 shutout of visiting North Schuylkill.

After a scoreless first half, Cesare Picone got the Raiders on the scoreboard midway through the second half. Just one minute later, Tamaqua tacked on its second goal when Martin Sedlock scored off a Jake Fegley assist.

Tamaqua had a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

North Schuylkill goal keeper Stefan Smith had nine saves, while Tamaqua's Tyler Cimino had four stops.

Tamaqua-Nativity

Tied at 1-1 at halftime, Nativity scored four unanswered goals in a span of 15 minutes in the second half, en route to a 5-1 victory over Tamaqua.

Cruz Garcia and Connor Holohan scored two goals apiece for Nativity. Garcia also added two assists.

Tamaqua took the early 1-0 lead when Ben Miller found the back of the net off a pass from Martin Sedlock.

Nativity led in shots on goal (14-5) and corner kicks (3-2).

Tamaqua's Tyler Cimino had eight saves in goal, while Nativity's Jose Chagolla made two stops.

The JV game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Weatherly-Lourdes

Te Red Raiders picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 victory over the Wreckers.

New Covenant Christian School of Lebanon-Palmerton

Palmerton used two second half goals to post a 3-1 victory over New Convenant Christian School of Lebanon.

The win is Palmerton's first of the year (1-6).

Spencer Shigo, Gabe Scott and Austin Shupp notched goals for the Bombers, while Nick Fiouris added two assits.

For New Convenant Christian School of Lebanon (0-5-1), Mitch Kornhaus and Jon Kok scored a goal apiece.

Palmerton had a 16-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Cody Sigley had two stops in net for the Bombers, while Luke Cassel made 10 saves for New Covenant.

Blue Mountain-Marian

Blue Mountain received a 75 and a 76 from James Bromwell and Tyler Marcott respectively and went on to defeat Marian, 321-346 in non-league play.

Marian's Mike Gottstein, Josh Green and Eric Mason each shot an 86 to lead the Colts (9-2, 9-0).

Alexandria Ventrella had three kills and seven blocks to lead Jim Thorpe, while Shannon Green tacked on five blocks and two aces. Riley Carroll (six assists) and Amanda Peetrin (four digs) also contributed for the Lady Olympians.

Jim Thorpe won the JV game, 25-14, 25-22.

Lehighton-ES South

East Stroudsburg South scored a straight set victory over Lehighton in MVC volleyball by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-24.

Tiff Thompson had 12 kills, four aces and five blocks for the Indians. Jackie Jordan added five kills and seven digs to back her up.

Lehighton is now 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the MVC.

The Cavs also won the JV game by scores of 25-17, 27-25.

Panther Vy.-Tamaqua

Panther Valley improved to 4-1 on the season with a three-game sweep of Tamaqua, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16.

Deanna Focht led the Panthers with eight kills and 11 service points. Amy Yusella and Chrissy Micholik notched seven kills and eight service points apiece, while Kristyn Gates added 10 service points.

Panther Valley also won the JV match, 25-22, 25-20.

PM West-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley cruised past Pocono Mountain West in three games, 25-11, 25-2, 25-11.

The win improves the Bears to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in the MVC.

Breanna Joseph once again led Pleasant Valley at the net with nine kills, while Courtney Miller, Samantha Jimenez and Paige Band added four kills apiece.

Setters Stephanie Schmitt and Kiersten Griesback dished off seven assists apiece, while MacKenzie Dorney added six digs.

Marian-Lourdes

Marian remained undefeated on the season (5-0) with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 win over Lourdes.

Marykate Sherkness led the Fillies with 15 kills, seven aces and five digs. Other key Marian contributors were: Joanna Butala (four kills, eight aces), Nikki Collevechio (five aces, 10 digs), Grace Boyle (seven kills) and Abby O'Donnell (27 assists, four digs).

Marian also won the JV match, 25-14, 25-22.

Weatherly-Williams Vy.

Weatherly got its second win of the season with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 victory over Williams Valley.

Sarah Dolinsky led the Wreckers (2-7) with nine kills, 21 digs and two blocks, while Alyssa Miller tallied seven kills, eight digs and four aces. Alicia Panzarella notched five kills and 24 digs and Jess Adamczyk recorded three kills, three blocks and six digs.

In the JV match, Williams Valley posted a 25-17, 25-18 victory.
