Police report retail thefts

Police report the following retail thefts:

• State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew Slagle, 40, no address given, entered the Giant Market in the Cressona Mall, located off Route 61 in North Manheim Township, at 3:45 p.m. Monday and removed merchandise from the shelving and left the store without paying for the items.

He was arraigned before on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post bail.

• State police at Frackville said Thomas Paul Miersky, 70, of Shenandoah, was seen at 12:59 p.m. Friday at Blum's Auction, at 501 Schuylkill Mall Road in New Castle Township, placing various items inside his coat pockets. The items were valued at $34.58 and returned to the owner. Charges will be filed, troopers said.

• Samuel J. Tuckett, 23, of Andreas, was cited for stealing a pack of Tastykake cupcakes and a carton of chocolate milk valued at $3.12. The theft occurred at 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 25 in Tamaqua.

• Brian S. Fritz, 40, of Forest City, tried to steal a set of Vibe Bluetooth ear buds, valued at $10.60, from the Dollar General Store, 1213 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, at 2:40 p.m. on March 2. He was stopped and detained by the store manager.
