Coadale man with assault of woman

Coaldale police have charged a borough man with allegedly beating up a woman.

Matthew Adam Derr, of 86 Miner St., was charged by Investigator Todd Weiss with simple assault and harassment/physical strike kick.

According to an affidavit of probable cause on June 28 at about 1 p.m., Derr and Kathleen McCormick were arguing when he allegedly threw her to the floor and began kicking her. Then he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and slapped her in the face until her nose started bleeding. Police arrested Derr, and McCormick was taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital for treatment of bruises.
