Carbon driver victim in hit/run

A Carbon County driver was the victim of a hit-and- run accident that occurred in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at the intersection of Morea Road and Spruce Street (Pottsy Hill), in Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said Juan Manuel Gonzalez, 28, of Shenandoah, was northbound on Spruce Street in a 1995 Saturn and failed to stop for a posted stop sign. He traveled into the path of a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Theodore M. Dacey, of Nesquehoning, who was westbound on Morea Road. The two vehicles collided.

After impact Gonzalez drove his vehicle to Roosevelt Drive and fled the scene on foot. Troopers said Gonzalez was driving with a suspended license. He will be charged with multiple offenses under the vehicle code, troopers added.

Dacey and his passenger, Mai-Ling Dacey, were not injured.
