Bloodmobile

The next American Red Cross Bloodmobile visit to Tamaqua will be on July 20. The Salvation Army gym will be turned into a blood collection center. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.

Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood. Donor cards or proper identification will be required.

Appointments for donors can be made by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Donors in Juy will be given a certificate for a free carton of ice cream from Friendly's.

Band rehearsals

The Tamaqua Area Raider Band will begin summer rehearsals on July 19. Instrumentalists will rehearse July 19 and July 26, from 9-11 a.m., in the high school band room.

New member orientation/rehearsal will be held Aug. 2, from 4-6 p.m. This will be followed by a full band rehearsal from 6-8 p.m.

Band camp is scheduled to begin Aug. 8. Attendance at camp is mandatory.

SWNC to meet

The South Ward Neighborhood Committee will meet next Thursday, July 21, at 7 p.m., at the South Ward Community Center, located at the South Ward Playground. Anyone interested in improving the South Ward is welcome to attend.

Democrats to meet

The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet Monday, at 7:30 p.m., at the East End Fire Company. The public is welcome to attend.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavellero will officiate at the 11 a.m. worship service this Sunday as members of First United Methodist Church travel to the Normal Square Pavilion for the annual church picnic. For directions to the pavilion, or more information about the picnic, call 668-3344.

Activities for next week include: Monday, Trustees meet at 6 p.m., Church Council meets at 7 p.m. and Jesus in the Steps program meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. A children's service and communion will be included. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

The Consistory will meet Monday at 7 p.m.
