Sunday school teachers

The Sunday School teachers of St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will meet on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. in the church. Sunday School classes will resume for the new year on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 9:15 a.m.

Addresses needed by JTHS classes

Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1961 is looking for the whereabouts of Robert A. Balliet. If anyone has any information about him, please contact Bob Zovak, at (570) 325-3001.

The Jim Thorpe High School classes of 1975-1979 will be holding their reunion on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Lehighton Orioles. The Class of 1978 is in need of information for the following class members: Lori Bennick, James Bokeko, Agnes Chapman, Adam Davila, Beth Herman, Lee Hosier, Jean Keiper, Robert Kibler, Suzette Kurtz, Arthur Lesher, Patricia Maldonado, Dorothy O'Hara, Brian O'Keefe, Mark Peterson, Juanita Quigg, John Resuta, Larry Ritter, Roseann Saarullo, Darlene Strohl, and Lori Zugaj. Clothing giveaway

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will be holding its clothing giveaway the next three weeks. Distribution will be held on the following dates: Aug. 4 and 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Aug. 5, 12 and 18, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Aug. 6, 13 and 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bible school

An Ecumenical Vacation Bible School will be held on Aug. 8-13 at Christ United Church of Christ, 4th and Center streets, from 6-8:30 p.m. The school is sponsored by the Jim Thorpe Ministerium. For more information contact Jamie Kunkel, (570) 325-8670.

Joint class reunion meeting

A meeting will take place at noon on Monday, Aug. 8 at the Lions Club pavilion in Normal Square, for anyone in the graduating classes of 1955 through 1965 of Jim Thorpe High School. Those planning to attend should bring their own bag lunch and beverage. The committee is planning to schedule the affair for September of 2012.

Bloodmobile

The next visit of the American Red Cross bloodmobile will be on Aug. 24, at Memorial Park from 1-6 p.m. Donors should be 17 years of age and older.
