Summit Hill
Legion to meet
The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.
A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.
Borough council
The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will chair the session.
The council will hold an executive session on Monday at 6 p.m. in the borough hall for the purpose of discussing possible litigation.
St. Paul Lutheran
The Rev. George Zacharda will lead the worship service on Sunday, Aug. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Zacharda is a retired pastor from Catasauqua.
Hope of Christ
Members of the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, are reminded the summer worship schedule is now in effect. The Sunday morning worship service on Sunday, Aug. 7, will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Bloodmobile planned
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a visit by the Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Miller-Keystone is the sole provider of blood to the area's hospital.
A goal of 35 pints has been established. Persons planing on donating blood on that day can call the parish rectory to reserve their donor time. Walk-in donors will also be accepted.
Lansford
Trip for servers
St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will sponsor a free trip to the Scranton Yankees-Louisville Bats game on Saturday, Aug. 6, for all altar servers and their parents. Information about the trip will be mailed to the families.
Adult and teenage volunteer help is sought to help make the program a successful one.
Fall baseball
The Lansford Baseball Association is accepting registrations for fall baseball. There will be two levels of participation. Youths 8-12 years of age who are interested in playing can contact Mike Turrano, (570) 645-9754. Little League graduates through age 15 who desire to play can contact Bob Pavlik Sr., (570) 645-2566.
Coaldale
VFW Ladies Auxiliary
The Coaldale VFW Ladies Auxiliary met earlier this week.
The auxiliary is planning a candlelight ceremony in honor of the 10th anniversary of the September 11 victims. Anyone wishing to participate is invited to attend. The ceremony will be held in front of the VFW building located at 1 East Ridge St. in Coaldale at 8 p.m. on Sept. 11.
A benefit is being planned for Coaldale Fire Company, to take place at the Coaldale VFW next month. Donations of cash, food, and fire prevention items will be accepted. More details will follow.
The VFW is accepting manufacturer's coupons for fundraising.

Nesquehoning
Democratic meeting
The Nesquehoning Democratic Club will hold a meeting on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Lions Club building.
Plans will be formalized for an upcoming rally.
