A meeting of Jim Thorpe's Community Watch Group will take place at 7 p.m., on Aug. 18, at Memorial Hall.

There will be two guest speakers including Mark Nalesnik, who will do a PowerPoint presentation on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT); and Cindy Henning and Guy Antolick, who will do a presentation on the National Night Out program.

New members are always welcome.

Penn Forest Township

commission meetings

The next Penn Forest Township Planning Commission meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22 in the basement of the township municipal building on Route 903.

The next regular schedule board of supervisors meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the municipal building.

The municipal building will be closed on Labor Day.

The transfer station will be closed on Labor Day, however it will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept, 6.
