Amputee Support Group

The area Amputee Support Group is slated to meet from 2-3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Pocono Medical Center in the Stroud Conference Room.

Lyme disease support

Area folks needing Lyme disease support can attend a meeting at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Tunkhannock Township building.

Modern worship

Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville will host a special modern worship service on Sunday, Aug. 14. The service will take place at 9:30 a.m.

Free concert

West End Park and Ross Township will host a free concert by A Change of Heart as part of the summer concert series at the VanBuskirk-Haney Park on Kunkletown Road, Saylorsburg. It is set for 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14.

All are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the free concert.

Plants needed

Zion Lutheran is in the process of growing its prayer garden begun in 2010.

There is a need for plants such as bee balm, Shasta daisies, mums, cone flowers, spring bulbs, garden peony, grape hyacinths, fox glove and more.

Members say they find that plants separated from another's garden seem to be the hardiest.

Also needed is weed barrier, landscape stones, and mulch.

Anyone having excess and wishing to donate said items to Zion can call the church for further contact information.

All Sports Club

Pleasant Valley School District's All Sports Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15, at the high school library in Brodheadsville.

Busy PV week

In addition to the All Sports Club meeting, there are many activities ongoing at the school complex in Brodheadsville and the other school sites for the PV School District, ranging from PVHS new student orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 16, to Find Your Classroom Days at Chestnuthill and other elementary centers on Tuesday, Aug. 16 and Wednesday, Aug. 17, in addition to new teacher orientation, Monday through Wednesday.

Township drivers should be aware of probable heavier traffic in the school areas.
