Tigers earn golf split

The Northwestern golf team earned a split to highlight Monday's scholastic sports action.

GOLF

Northwestern-Pen Argyl-So. Lehigh

Northwestern pulled out a Colonial League win over Pen Argyl, but dropped a contest to Southern Lehigh.

Medalist honors for the day went to the Spartans' Matt Guro, who fired a 74.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Cole Miller, who had a four-over 75. Nick Vecellio followed with a 76 for Nprthwestern.

Notre Dame (GP)-Moravian Academy-Palmerton

Palmerton ended up being swept by Notre Dame of Green Pond and Moravian Academy in a Colonial League tri-meet at par-72 Blue Ridge Country Club.

The Bombers dropped a 398-439 score to the Crusaders and a 413-439 score to the Lions.

The Blue Bombers' Ben Andrews shot a two-under-par 70 to grab medalist honors on the day.

Palmerton slips to 1-6 overall on the season.

Hamburg-Tamaqua

The Lady Raiders dropped a decisive match to Hamburg, 5-0.

Hamburg won all three singles matches, en route to the win.

For Tamaqua, the closest individual match was at number two doubles, where Emily Hansler and Laine Confer dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to April Werner and Katy Harris.
