Two Carbon businesses cited

Two Carbon County businesses have been cited by the Wilkes-Barre enforcement office of the state liquor control board for violations of the liquor code.

Cindy Whiteman, trading as Cindy's Rusty Nail, 939 Mauch Chunk Rd., Palmerton, was cited for violating the clean air act. The board alleges the bar permitted an individual under 18 years of age to be in a portion of the licensed premises where smoking is permitted. The violation occurred on July 31, the board said.

Nick's Lake House, Ltd., 110 S. Lake Drive, Box 273, Lake Harmony, Kidder Township, was cited for sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted such sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to a minor. The offense occurred on Aug. 4, the board said.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought.
