St. Luke's Miners hosts annual BCA luncheon

In celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital is again hosting its annual luncheon and presentation at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Macaluso's at the Lantern Inn in Nesquehoning. Doors open at 1:45 p.m.

Andrea J. Smith, MS, CGC, will present "Genetics & Breast Cancer: How Does Family Affect Risk?" A certified genetic counselor with St. Luke's Family Cancer Risk Evaluation Program, Smith will discuss how family history can affect your risk of developing breast cancer; how family history information can be used to help make decisions regarding screenings; and the use of genetic testing.
