Summit Hill

St. Paul Lutheran

Brian Buzik will lead the worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, Jan. 1. It will begin at 10:30 a.m.

There will be no Sunday school class this weekend. The class will resume on Sunday, Jan. 8.

St. Joseph Church

In conjunction with the New Year's holiday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has announced its schedule of services as follows:

Feast of the Holy Family: Friday, Dec. 30 - 9 a.m.

New Year's Eve: Feast of Mary, the Mother of God - Mass at 4 p.m.

New Year's Day, Jan. 1: Masses at 9 and 11 a.m.

Looking for yearbook

The Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for a copy of a 1954 yearbook for the former Summit Hill High School. If anyone is willing to donate one to the society's museum, they can call Maxine Vermillion, president, (570) 645-9772. The museum will be relocating in January to West Ludlow Street to the site of the former Jean McFadden's Store.

Borough council

The Summit Hill Borough Council will hold its reorganizational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Election of a president will highlight the meeting.

SHCIO to meet

The Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization will meet at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month in the Summit Hill Borough Hall. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 2.

Maxine Vermillion is serving as president of the organization.

Legion to meet

The monthly meeting of American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the post home. Commander W. Kevin O'Donnell will be in charge of the session.

A meeting of the Home Association will immediately follow the post's meeting.

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food commodities to eligible persons in town on a monthly basis. Distributions are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon at the Summit Hill Heritage Center.

Lansford

St. John Lutheran

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.

For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief adult Bible study and confirmation program at 6:30.
