Man charged after breaking into home

Shannon Steigerwalt, 41, of Weissport, was arrested by state police on April 5 after entering a home on the 200 block of White Street in Weissport and assaulting the resident. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Steigerwalt was charged with burglary, simple assault and harassment.

He was lodged in the Carbon County prison. Bail was set at $50,000, which he was unable to post. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Eric M. Schrantz.
