Krajcirik, Sherkness All-State in volleyball
Marian's Rachel Krajcirik and Marykate Sherkness were named to Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All-State team that was released today.
Krajcirik, a senior setter, and Sherkness, a sophomore outside hitter, continued Marian's impressive tradition of post-season volleyball honors. The Fillies have at least one player named to the PVCA All-State team every year since 1999. During those 12 seasons, there have been 28 Fillies named All-State.
"Rachel and Marykate both were outstanding for us this season," said Marian coach John "Doc" Fallabel. "They are both very deserving of this honor."
Fallabel said it's no fluke that the Marian program has been able to continue its impressive string of volleyball success and honors.
"Our girls are extremely dedicated," he said. "They know they have to put in the time in the offseason and they do exactly that.
"We are also extremely fortunate to have a long line of former players who show our current players what it takes to be special. At our AAU practice last night, we had two of our former All-State players Jen Blasko and Ang Rutch come to the gym and work with our girls for three hours. That type of commitment and dedication is passed down from one class to another. It's why we are able to produce All-State caliber players year after year."
