The Tamaqua Public Library is open Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday, 2 p.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Please note that the library will be open on Jan. 17, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.
Spring Storytime
The library will once again conduct its Spring Storytime. This year's theme is "See if you can guess the theme of the day."
Children ages 2-5 are invited to participate for stories and crafts in the children's area of the library. Story time begins Monday, March 7 and will run for 10 consecutive weeks.
Identical programs will be held every Monday and Tuesday mornings, from 10 -11 a.m.

Black Diamond Writers
Jason Sander, creative services director for Concur New Media, will present a free talk on creating a vision and writing goals at a meeting of the Black Diamond Writers' Network, to be held at the Tamaqua Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 15.

The Black Diamond Writers' Network conducts regular monthly meetings at the Tamaqua Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of each month.
Book Discussion Group
This month's book discussion is about the book "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave. The discussion will be held at the library on Monday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
This New York Times Bestseller is a haunting novel about the tenuous friendship that blooms between two disparate strangers, one an illegal Nigerian refugee, the other a recent widow from suburban London.

Art Display in Reading Room
Come see the beautifully framed photography hanging in the Reading Room. Scott D. Lapp of Coaldale has nine photographs displayed, including depictions of local areas such as Tuscarora and Stonehedge Gardens. The unique photos will be available for viewing for the next month.
Display case
Coming soon is a beautiful collection of hand fans.
The library is looking for collectors and artists who would like to display their work in its locked display case in the front lobby for a month. Some of the previous displays showcased included clay figures, homemade bookmarks, and rock collections.
Those interested in displaying collections can contact the libarry at (570) 668-4660 to set up a showing.
Yearbook collection
The library is in the process of compiling a complete set of yearbooks for the following area schools: Tamaqua High School (Unknown Date to 1960); Tamaqua Area High School (1960-Present); Coaldale High School (Unknown Date to 1963); Marian High School (Unknown Date to Present); and St. Jerome's Catholic High School (Unknown Dates: Yearbook is titled, Leone).
The collection is still missing books from the following years:
Tamaqua High School's "The Sphinx": 1920, 1921, 1942, 1946, 1955, 1957-1959
Tamaqua Area High School's "The Sphinx": 1960, 1962-1963, 1967, 1970, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1986, 1988, 1991, 1992, 2007-2009
Coaldale High School's "The Stentor": 1930-1932, 1948-1963
Marian High School: 1980, 1981, 1986-2008
St. Jerome's Catholic High School: the library has 1936, 1946, 1947, and 1948.
