Lions to meet

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Lions Club will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Parkview Inn. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the session.

The meeting will be held in the form of a "Picnic in January," featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob and other picnic "fixins."

The club's guests for the evening will be the Lions' regional and zone chairpersons.

Preliminary details for this year's golf tournament will be presented.

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Jan. 23, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food boxes on a monthly basis to needy families in the community. Deliveries are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

The pantry is headquartered at the Summit Hill Heritage Center, Chestnut and Hazard streets. Members of the Summit Hill Lions Club assist pantry officials in the preparation and delivery of the boxes.

Presbyterian Church

The schedule for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Jan. 23, is as follows:

Sunday school and adult Bible study, 9 a.m.; and worship service, 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Fred Rogers, pastor, will officiate.

Coaldale

GOP to meet

The Coaldale Republican Party will meet on Monday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. at the West Ward Rod & Gun Club. Bob Ames, town chairman, will preside at the meeting.

Information pertaining to the 2011 Primary Election will be distributed at this time. Registration forms and absentee ballot applications will also be available.

First Congregational Church

Services and activities scheduled for next week at First Congregational Church, Coaldale, are as follows:

Sunday, Jan. 23 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School; 12:30 p.m. Confirmation class.

Monday, Jan. 24 - 7 p.m. Church board meeting.

Wednesday, Jan. 26 - 6:30.m. Choir rehearsal.

Sunday, Jan. 30 - 9 a.m. Morning Worship; 10 a.m. Sunday School; 12:30 p.m. Confirmation class.

Wednesday, Feb. 2 - Nursing home services at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Miners, and 1:30 p.m. at MapleShade.
