Snow-covered roads on Wednesday, Jan. 26, were blamed for two crashes, one a three-vehicle pileup, on Schuylkill County roadways, state police at Schuylkill Haven reported.

The three-vehicle crash occurred about 4:19 p.m. along SR901 south of Cressona Road, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Susan Prokop, 57, of Pottsville, was driving a 2000 Chrysler Sebring westbound and apporaching oncoming traffic when her vehicle began to fishtail. The car crossed over into the opposing lane of travel and struck the driver's side passenger door area of a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan operated by Jami L. Medeiros, 33, of Shoemakersville, Berks County. After that impact the Sebring spun around twice and struck a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 truck driven by Ronald L. Enck, 52, of Denver, Lancaster County, who was stopped.

No one was injured in the crash. Troopers said the roadway was closed for about 30 minutes while the crash scene was cleared.

The second crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. along Hemlock Drive, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Rebecca M. Wagner, 37, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2005 Kia Sorento southbound and negotiating a right turn when her vehicle slid on the snow. The Kia crossed the northbound lane and crashed into the guardrail along the berm. After impact with the guardrail the Kia continued south coming to rest in the southbound lane.

Wagner was not injured, troopers said.
