Put the focus back on jobs, not divisive politics

As a Pennsylvania voter, I am ashamed that the leadership of the State Senate chose to put a divisive political attack on abortion as its first order of business in the new legislative session.

This attack on women's rights is unconscionable, not to mention unconstitutional. I was under the impression that the Republican party was against government intruding on the rights of the people.

It seems that this position only applies to the legislation that the Democrat party offers. The renowned cry of a government takeover of health care doesn't seem to apply when it comes to women's rights. A woman has the right to life and the pursuit of happiness which includes selecting what kind of health care she deems necessary.

When NO federal funding is accepted and the elected health care package is selected through the insurance exchange, she should be able to select whatever coverage she needs, and should not be limited to what the Republican and right to life organizations want to choose for her. When all one hears is The Founding Fathers this and the Founding Fathers that, would the founding fathers agree to restricting a women's right to choose? I think not.

This is just another example of the hypocrisy of the Republican party.

The Republican majorities in the legislature were elected to put Pennsylvanians back to work, tackle the mortgage crisis and improve our sagging economy. Senate Bill 3 bans a private transaction between a company and an individual and is completely at odds with the platform on which Republican legislative majorities were elected.

I urge you to put divisive politics like SB3 aside and return focus to the people's business.
