Four cited for bad checks

Tamaqua police have issued citations to four people who used bad checks to pay for borough services.

Brenda Ristilla, 44, of 427 Willing St., Tamaqua, made a payment of $847.80 to the Tamaqua Area Water Authority on Sept. 21, 2010. The check was returned marked Insufficient funds. Ristilla was sent a registered letter on Oct. 12, 2010, but failed to respond. Misdemeanor charges were filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, on Feb. 2.

Michael Yachera, 36, of 59 Mahanoy Ave., Hometown, made a payment of $100 to the Tamaqua Area Water Authority on Oct. 13, 2010. The check was returned marked insufficient funds. Yachera was sent a registered letter on Oct. 22, 2010, but failed to respond. Summary charges were filed with Bayer on Feb. 2.

Lauren E. Ortiz, 33, of 260 Clay St., Tamaqua, made a payment of $53.55 to the Borough of Tamaqua on Sept. 8, 2010, for payment of a refuse bill. The check was returned as "unavailable funds." A registered letter was sent Nov. 9, 2010, but Ortiz failed to respond. Summary charges were filed with Bayer on Feb. 2.

Motley Moore of 44 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, made a payment of $107.10 to the Borough of Tamaqua on Oct. 10, 2010, for payment of a refuse bill. The check was returned due to the account being closed. A registered letter was sent Oct. 22, 2010, but Moore failed to respond. Summary charges were filed with Bayer on Feb. 2.
