Schuylkill crash leads to DUI count
A two vehicle crash in Schuylkill County that occurred about 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, has led to a driving under the influence (DUI) charge pending against one of the drivers. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred along SR61, at Briar Road, in North Manheim Township.
Troopers said John Morrison, 58, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2006 Cyrysler Sebring southbound in the right lane behind a 2006 Ford F250 truck operated by Michael Sweigert, 39, of Llewellyn.
Troopers said Sweigert slowed down and activated his right turn signal attempting to turn into a private lot. Morrison then "hard" braked, however, the passenger side front of his car struck the rear of the Ford.
Morrison sustained a minor injury in the crash and Sweigert was not injured.
Troopers said Morrison displayed signs of intoxication and was taken to the barracks for a breath test. The test showed he was over the legal limit of .08 percent, troopers said. He will be charged.
Damages were disabling to the Chrysler and minor to the Ford.
