Tamaqua man jailed for assault

A Tamaqua man was incarcerated in the Schuylkill County prison, Pottsville, following a domestic dispute on Sunday.

Gregory M. Muffley, 27, who occasionally resides at 114 Patterson St., allegedly broke into the home at 5 a.m. on Sunday after finding all of the doors to be locked. Once inside he allegedly confronted resident Alicia Whah, a former girlfriend. Whah told officers Muffley used her purse to strike her in the face. There were noticeable marks and bruises on Whah's face.

Muffley was charged with simple assault and harassment under the commonwealth's domestic violence laws. He was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, who set bail at $10,000 percentage. Muffley was unable to post the required 10 percent and was transported to the prison.
