Schuylkill crash

A driver escaped injury in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 7:34 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, along Sweet Arrow Lake Road, in Washington Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jacob T. Sampson, 18, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado westbound and negotiating a left curve when the vehicle hit a patch of ice. The truck slid off the road and struck a tree with its front right corner. After initial impact the truck glanced off the first tree and continued west along the shoulder when the right side struck a second tree which severely damaged the truck box and rear drive line.

After the second impact the truck spun clockwise 180 degrees and came to rest in the westbound lane facing east. The truck had to be towed from the scene.
