Panthers, Bombers pick up wrestling wins

Panther Valley and Palmerton picked up wrestling wins in local high school sports action last night.

WRESTLING

Williams Valley

-Panther Valley

Schuylkill Division II champion Panther Valley closed its league schedule with a 49-21 win over visiting Williams Valley.

The Panthers finished undefeated in Division I competition at 5-0 (12-11 overall) with the victory.

The Panthers' Nick O'Donnell (103) and Kory Lopata (130) registered pins, while Gage Rohlfing added a major decision at 152. Dustin Marblestone chipped in with a decision for PV, which took advantage of five forfeits.

Blue Mountain (10-1, 5-0) clinched its seventh straight Schuylkill League Division I championship with a 44-28 victory at Tamaqua.

For the Blue Raiders (11-10, 3-3), Garth Lakitsky improved to 31-0 with a pin. Philip Christman and Travis Veronsky added falls, while Kolby Mashack (30-1, who became Tamaqua's career wins leader with 123) chipped in with a major decision and Evan Mashack and Matt Edmonds won by decision.

The Blue Bombers upped their overall record to 10-6 and 7-4 in the Colonial League with a 57-21 win over the Slaters.

Palmerton got pins from Sam Oberlander, Joseph Bubble, Jake Christman, Jarrett Kleintop and Kane Kralik to help breeze to the victory.

Cody Grohotolski added a technical fall, Josh Evans a major decision and Dillon Masington, Jonathan Christman and Skyler Rosenberry won by forfeit.

Panther Valley posted a 48-42 non-conference win over host Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

Sam Zlock netted eight of her team-high 12 points in the Panthers' third quarter, during which they outscored CMVT 16-8.

The Panthers' Bryanna Kehrli scored a season-high 11 points in the victory.

Pleasant Valley finished its regular season undefeated at 20-0 with a 46-42 overtime victory over ES North.

Elijah Gonzalez led the Bears with 13 points, while Isaiah Johnson and Eric Mikulski added 12 and nine points respectively.
