DUI arrests

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests, two stemming from crashes.

On Feb. 18 about 7:20 p.m. officers responded to a crash along SR115 north of Toll Road. Police determined that Benjamin Vega, 56, of Blakeslee, was traveling northbound and entered the southbound lane and struck a vehicle operated by Kathleen Kelly, also of Blakeslee.

Police said Vega was found to be under the influence and was taken into custody. He was charged with DUI and motor vehicle code violations.

On Feb. 19 about 1:04 a.m. officers responded to a report of an accident along SR903 at SR115. Upon arrival officers located the driver involved and identified him as William G. Brenton II, 21, of Mountain Top.

Police said Brenton was "heavily" under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. Found on his person was a small pipe used for smoking marijuana. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Monroe County DUI Center for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results, while he will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Feb. 20 about 8:47 p.m. officers made a traffic stop along SR611 in Mt. Pocono for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Waclaw Rybak, 51, of Effort. He was found to be under the influence and was transported to the state police barracks at Fern Ridge for a breath test. The test revealed a .19BAC. He will be charged, police said.
