Monroe crashes
State police at Fern Ridge reported on three crashes probed by troopers on roads in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, recently.
A one-vehicle crash occurred about 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, along Old Stagecoach Road. Troopers said Stephen D. Hellman, 51, of Brodheadsville, was driving a 2006 Jeep Compass eastbound when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree along the berm. Hellman was not injured.
He was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
Another crash on Friday, about 5:05 p.m., occurred along SR715. Troopers said Sean M. Pilc, 18, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2008 Hyundai southbound while Andrew D. Hills, 51, of Stroudsburg, was northbound operating a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. Troopers said Pilc's vehicle drifted into the path of Hills' Equinox and a collision occurred. After impact the Hyundai went onto the berm and struck a tree and then a utility pole.
Pilc sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. Hills was not injured.
Troopers cited Pilc for careless driving.
The third crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. along SR15. Troopers said Kathy L. Titus, 42, of Effort, was stopped for a red traffic sign at the intersection with SR209 and her 2002 Ford Explorer was struck in the rear by a 2004 Saturn Ion driven by Matthew Kruvczuk, 84, of Kunkletown. No one was injured.
Troopers said Kruvczuk was cited for general requirements for braking system.
