Walnutport driver facing hit/run

A Walnutport driver is facing a charge of hit and run following a crash that occurred about 7 a.m. on Feb. 21 along Kernsville Road at Orchard Road, in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Denis J. Chandler, 62, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra eastbound and negotiating a left curve in the road when he lost control. The car traveled off the right side and struck a stop sign located at the intersection and proceeded into a field where the car also struck a business sign.

Chandler then fled the scene. Troopers said a bumper belonging to the Elantra was left at the scene and a portion of it showed the vehicle identification number (VIN). Troopers were able to then track the vehicle to Chandler. He was not injured in the crash.

He will be charged with accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
