Why the sudden increase?
Dear Editor:
Recently, I recieved notification that UGI Central Penn gas plans to increase service rates by as much as 18 percent. They are seeking an additional $16.5 million in profilts.
I feel as though the community needs to be made aware of this. UGI sent a small, index card sized, document with my last bill explaining their intentions. Many consumers cannot afford any more price increases.
In the wake of the tragic Allentown explosion, UGI needs to replace many gas lines. But why should these improvements and repairs be paid by consumers? UGI already makes millions in profits. Why the sudden increase?
