Level the playing field

Dear Editor:

In keeping with "shared sacrifice", I feel that the President and the members of Congress, past and present, should cut their salaries and all their benefits by 20 percent and set an example for the rest of the nation.

We may even have to cut the pay and benefits of federal workers in an effort to balance the budget. This would add meaning and substance to the the phrase "a level playing field." The citizens of the nation realize we have a debt crisis and would be more than willing to take cuts in benefits as long as the politicians who created this crisis share in the sacrifice.
