Drug arrest in Schuylkill County

A Fulton County man is facing drug charges after he was found sleeping in his vehicle in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said about 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 21, troopers found Andrew Whalen, 26, of Wells Tannery, asleep in his vehicle at the Cressona Cemetery along Ash St., Cressona.

It was learned that Whalen had an active warrant for his arrest issued out of Schuylkill County for failure to appear.

A search of Whalen revealed a small bag of suspected marijuana in his pants pocket. Also found in his vehicle were two pipes containing suspected marijuana residue.

Whalen was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Pottsville on the warrant.

He will be charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, troopers added.
