Being discarded because of neglect
Dear Editor:
I was very disappointed when I read the article in Tuesday, March 29, TIMES NEWS, regarding the judging stand which stands in the Grove in Lehighton.
Several years ago I attended a borough council meeting with photos, asking why this historical structure was being neglected? I told them it would be a great project for an organization or a group of retired gentlemen. You know how that goes!
If this were in any other town, Jim Thorpe, Palmerton, to name a few, it would be standing in a place of prominence for all to enjoy.
I feel we are very lucky to have such a piece of history
.
The borough received a $20,000 grant a few years ago. What happened? Why the delay?
I think it's time people in Lehighton take some pride in their town and their local history and get involved.
