Mitchell entering LV Football Hall of Fame

Former Northwestern football coach Bob Mitchell will be inducted into the 2011 Lehigh Valley Football Hall of Fame at a banquet on Friday, May 6.

Mitchell, who retired from coaching two years ago, was the Tigers head coach for 28 seasons between 1981 and 2009. He complied a 177-129-1 record, winning District 11 titles in 1995, 1997 and 2002. He was named Colonial League Coach of the Year following each of his district title winning seasons and was the District 11 Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2006. In 2004, Mitchell was inducted into the Pennsylvania Coaches Hall of Fame.

Joining Mitchell in this year's Hall of Fame class are Thomas Jordan (Liberty), Richard Berner (Whitehall), Jim Gum (Pen Argyl), Jim Laser (Emmaus) and Ed Yaple (Northampton).
