Methodist Charge

The service schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, May 1, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services. The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Borough council

The monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council will be held on Monday, May 8, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall. Joseph Weber, president, will be in charge of the session.

Absentee ballots

The 2011 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 17, in Carbon County.

Persons wanting to vote by the absentee ballot process are reminded the deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is May 10.

Persons interested in an application can contact Billy O'Gurek Jr. or Nathan Halenar, president of the Jeffersonian Democratic Club, Summit Hill.

Coaldale

Horseshoe League

The West Ward Rod and Gun Club, Coaldale, is making plans to hold its annual horseshoe league.

The league will hold a get-together to select teams on Tuesday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at the club. Anyone interested in participating in the league should attend this meeting.

C.H.O.S.E. meeting

The next C.H.O.S.E. meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 5 in the borough hall. For more information call Yvonne at (570) 778-6017.

Nesquehoning

Conservation Club

The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club will be Wednesday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at MapleShade Meadows.

This is the last meeting before the Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 7, so all derby-related issues will be finalized at this time.

Members are also asked to bring any Redner's Save-A-Tapes they have collected.

Woman's club

The Nesquehoning Woman's Club will host its Spring Tea on Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Invited guests will be members of the Panther Valley and Lehighton Women's Clubs.

President Judy Moon will preside. Vocalist Tina Ligenza will be the featured guest.

Democratic club

The Nesquehoning Democratic Club will meet on Sunday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Lions Building. Plans for the upcoming election will be discussed.

Lions meeting

The Nesquehoning Lions Club will meet on Monday, May 2 at 6 p.m. in their building on West Mill Street.
