Monroe Co. man charged with DUI

Published May 12. 2011 05:00PM

A Monroe County man has been taken into custody after he was stopped for driving under the influence.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said that on May 5, at around 9:02 p.m., officers observed Benjamin Vega, 56, of Blakeslee, traveling southbound on Route 115.

Officers were aware that Vega did not have a valid driver's license due to a DUI arrest in February of this year.

Officers stopped the vehicle and found Vega to be intoxicated. Vega was taken into custody after he refused to take a field sobriety test and refused a legal blood draw.

Vega was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a suspended driver's license DUI related.

Vega was then transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility where he will be arraigned.
