Two-vehicle crash in Monroe County

A two-vehicle crash occurred in Monroe County during the early hours of May 2.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to the accident at State Route 940 at the entrance to the Pocono Summit Post Office.

Police say that George Guida, 89, of Pocono Summit, was operating a Suzuki Sx4 when he pulled from the parking lot area of the post office into the path of a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero SUV being drive by Ruben Ariola, 41, of Tobyhanna.

Police say both vehicles sustained significant damage. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and air bags did deploy. Police say both men were taken by Pocono Mountain Regional EMS to the Pocono Medical Center.

Charges of vehicle entering or crossing the roadway will be filed against Guida.

Police were also assisted on the scene by the Pocono Summit volunteer fire department.
