No. Lehigh routs Thorpe in softball

Northern Lehigh picked up a non-league softball victory over Jim Thorpe to highlight Tuesday's scholastic sports action.

SOFTBALL

Jim Thorpe-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh cruised to an 11-2 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Kristi Seiler and Cassie Toth both had three hits for the Bulldogs (11-7). Seiler knocked in two runs and Toth scored twice. Erika Bowman had two hits, including a two-run homer.

Tri-Valley-Tamaqua

Chelsea Stutzman had a two-run homer early in the game and then added a tie-breaking RBI single in the sixth inning to lift Tri-Valley to a 6-4 non-league victory over Tamaqua.

With the score knotted ay 3-3, Stutzman singled in a run to put the Bulldogs ahead and Sam Wetzel followed with an important two-run double.

Tamaqua got a run back in the bottom of the frame when Chey Bates singled home Brianna Boyle. The Raiders had the tying runs on base in the frame, but winning pitcher Arissa Deibert escaped the jam and then retired Tamaqua in the seventh to preserve the win.

Jordan Nowacki had two hits for Tamaqua (9-9). Boyle scored twice. Lauren Mateyak had a hit and scored a run.

Lehighton-Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg rolled to a 10-0 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Lehighton.

Madi Liedberg and Meg O'Malley each drove in three runs for the Mountaineers.

Ashley Sensinger had Lehighton's only hit.

BASEBALL

Lehighton-Stroudsburg

Stroudsburg rallied for a 7-4 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Lehighton.

Trailing 3-1 in the fifth, the Mountaineers erupted for three runs to take the lead. Phil Stokes then belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning to provide Stroudsburg (10-8, 7-3 MVC) with some insurance.

For the Indians (12-5, 7-3), Tyler Hill had a pair of doubles.

Palmerton and Pen Argyl battled to a 1-1 Colonial League tie.

Morgan Myers scored the Bombers' goal off an assist from Kylee Turko..

Pen Argyl had a 20-15 advantage in shots.
