Schuylkill driver facing charges

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of hit and run following an incident that occurred between 3 and 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Devan Degrassi, 22, of Pottsville, was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Golf eastbound on Panther Valley Road, in Wayne Township, near Moran Lane and approaching a right curve.

Degrassi traveled straight instead of negotiating a curve, entered the berm and traveled into a patch of brush, troopers said. The car then impacted with a tree with the left front.

After impact Degrassi moved the vehicle to a nearby driveway and parked, never reporting the accident, troopers allege. The car was towed from the scene. Degrassi will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, troopers added.
