Watt … are they thinking?
Dear Editor:
Here is the question of the day. How does a Carbon Tax reduce the amount of Carbon Dioxide that goes up into the atmosphere? Doesn't the tax just increase the amount We the People have to pay to purchase a product that still sends the same amount of CO2 into the air?
Think about it. There is a reason the Global Warming phenomenon is called Climategate and that is because Global Warming is a scam meant to tax us more than we already are. It seems all the federal government has to do is say boo and we are willing to empty our pockets so our federal government can protect us from the threat of the day.
Terrorism being my personal favorite. I think Adolf Hitler said it best when he stated "Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives the people more than a fear of sudden death. But LOOK OUT the ice caps are melting and soon we will all have to breathe through straws to get fresh air. And who are the terrorists?
I know the federally controlled schools are teaching kids that CO2 is a poison even though we all exhale it and plants eat it. What's next, charging us for breathing? Don't laugh you are leaving a Carbon footprint as we speak and this ridiculous hoax is now entering our homes with the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 where the bureaucrats in Washington have the audacity to tell us what kind of light bulbs we are allowed to have in our homes.
Thank God for politicians saving the day!!! According to this Act starting January 1, 2012 you will not be able to purchase 100 Watt incandescent bulbs. January 1, 2013 you will not be able to purchase 75 Watt incandescent bulbs and January 1, 2014 the 40 and 60 Watt bulbs go extinct. Incandescent light bulbs have been around for over a hundred years. As a matter of fact, if you go to Marzen's Hardware in Jim Thorpe the original bulb that was installed in the basement when the place was built around one hundred years ago is to my knowledge still burning. Better take it out guys before Al Gore and the green police come and arrest you. (Yet one more reason to join the Carbon County Sheriff Brigade).
But the kicker is that CFL bulbs contain anywhere from 3 to 30 milligrams of the highly toxic metal mercury. And the CFL's are more expensive than the incandescent bulbs to boot. As if you don't have enough to worry about financially. Also, if a CFL bulb breaks in your house you now have a hazmat situation on your hands and I won't get into the protocol on how to handle that scenario but let's just say it gets pretty involved. As a matter of fact states like California do not allow the mercury bulbs to be dumped in landfills.
We all know that pregnant women should not eat tuna due to high levels of mercury as 4 to 5 thousand tons of mercury are dumped into our environment every year. I am not trying to play Debbie Downer here but aren't those levels going to sky rocket when incandescent bulbs are completely phased out? Where is the common sense people and when are you going to organize and say we've had enough? According to our state constitution "All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety and happiness. For the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such a manner as they may think proper."
I guess this is what happens when a society expects their government to fix all of their problems for them but remember "the government big enough to give you everything you have is big enough to take it all back."
