Bloodmobile

An American Red Cross Bloodmobile held in Tamaqua on May 25 collected a total of 47 units of the "gift of life." St. John United Church of Christ, Pine and Biddle streets, served as the collection site.

There were two first time donors, Zachary Bachman and Schuyler Schmidt. Multi-gallon pins were awarded to: David Mace, 8 gallons; Paul Kern, 16 gallons; and John Handler, 20 gallons.

Volunteers included Bob and Dolly Shirey, Joan Camerini, Dolores Martin and Darlene Zeckman.

This visit was sponsored by The Broad Street Deli.

Rush taxes

The office of Rush Township Tax Collector Dolores Walck will be closed June 22. This is in addition to being closed June 14-15 as indicated on residents' tax bills.

St. John's Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. In honor of Pentecost Sunday, the congregation will wear red. Catechumens will re-affirm their baptisms during the service.

Also on Sunday, the Allegro and Chime Choirs will present a special concert at 3 p.m. A light soup and sandwich supper will be held from 5-7 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, Congregational Council will meet at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Bible study at 6:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, Synod Assembly.

The annual Summer picnic is being planned for July 17.

St. Peter's Union

The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The Right of Confirmation and Re-affirmation of Baptism and Communion will be included. Six youth members will be confirmed.

Also on Sunday, Sunday school will meet at 10:15 a.m. and Daisies and Brownies will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Activities for next week include: Monday, newsletter deadline; Tuesday, WASP family picnic at 6:30 p.m., at Miller's Grove; Thursday, prayer group meets at 5 p.m., new member orientation at 6 p.m.

The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: Cherubs at 6:30 p.m., Junior Choir rehearsal at 7 p.m. and Senior Choir rehearses at 7:45 p.m.
