Good night for local teams

1It was a good night for local legion teams as the Birches, Northern Valley and Coplay all notched victories.

NORCO LEGION

Wanderers-Birches

An RBI double by James Beidleman was all the Birches needed to pick up a 1-0 win over the Wanderers in Norco Legion baseball action.

Howie Stevens got credit for the six-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking none. Ben Dudash suffered the loss.

LV LEGION

No. Valley-Emmaus

Northern Valley scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh to pull out a 6-5 victory over Emmaus in Lehigh Valley Legion play.

Tyler Hill was three-for-five, scored two runs, had a triple RBI and stolen base in the win. Steve Rasmussen also had three hits and drove in a run.

Sawyer Smith pitched six strong innings for the win, with Hill coming in to get the save.

Coplay-West End

Tyler Svetik scattered five hits as Coplay went on to a 10-4 win over West End.

Ted Hozza hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for one of his two hits for Coplay on the day. Erick Schlaffer also had two hits and drove in a run.
