Three teams start 3-0

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission (ESRC) summer co-ed volleyball league got underway on Thursday with three matches taking place at Coaldale's Black Diamond Park.

Team Ram Rod, Valley Athletic Supply and defending league champion Sandstorm all posted sweeps to start off their 2011 seasons.

Scared Hitless-

Sandstorm

The defending champs picked up where they left off last season, as Sandstorm posted a 25-11, 25-23, 25-8 sweep over Scared Hitless.

Christa Mantz led Sandstorm with 17 points, including six aces.

Tom Eisenhower's 10 points paced Scared Hitless.

Now Serving-Ram Rod

Team Ram Rod kicked off its season with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-23 sweep over Now Serving.

Devin Parambo (nine points) and Ang Rutch (eight) paced Team Ram Rod.

For Now Serving, Sarah Paluck served off 11 points.

Diggers wit Attitude-Valley Athletic Supply

Valley Athletic Supply made easy work of Diggers wit Attitude, cruising to a sweep, 25-16, 25-9, 25-9.

Valley Athletic looked strong with Jess McCarroll (13 points, 8 aces) and Jason Boris (17 points, 4 aces) leading the way.

Zach Midas' four points topped Diggers wit Attitude.
