June 13, 1996 Northern Lehigh's softball team wins the PIAA Class AA state championship by claiming a 6-2 victory over Riverside. Vanessa Strohl pitches a two-hitter and strikes out 10 to lead the Bulldogs. Strohl also collects two hits, scores a run and steals a base. Laurie Rentschler snaps a 1-1 tie with a two-run double while Tiff Oertner adds a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Nolehi, coached by Dennis Hock, completes its season with a 26-4 record.
