June 15, 1940 A solid pitching performance by "Porky" Sassaman helps lift Tamaqua to a 5-2 Black Diamond League win over Summit Hill. Sassaman tosses all nine innings, allowing just six hits while striking out seven. An RBI single by "Lefty" Mohn in the sixth inning proves to be the eventual game-winning run. Mohn finishes the contest with two hits, as does Harry Schroder and Joe Heisler. For Summit Hill, Mike Bonner also ends with two hits.
