Schuylkill man jailed for assault
A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the past weekend for an assault incident.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at a residence in Sammy's Mobile Home Park, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Christopher M. Pate, allegedly punched, kicked, slapped, scratched, and grabbed Jennifer Gernert by the hair and threw her to the ground. She suffered a black and blue left eye, severe bruising on both arms, legs, face and chest areas.
Pate also threatened to kill Gernert numerous times if she tried to leave the residence. The incidents occurred over a period of time of 10 p.m. Friday, June 17, and 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Pate was taken into custody at the scene and arraigned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, by video at the county prison in Pottsville, charged with simple assault and terroristic threats. He was unable to post $35,000 straight cash bail and was committed to the prison, troopers said.
