JT Franklin stay alive

Jim Thorpe and Franklin Township advanced in the loser's bracket of the District 18 11-12 tournament on Wednesday night.

In other action, Northern Valley continued its fine run in the LV Legion with another win.

Jim Thorpe got the best of Weatherly in five innings to score a 12-0 victory to advance further into tournament play.

Jim Thorpe's Jacob Burkhart tossed a complete game two-hit shutout, in which he struck out 11 of 17 batters he faced last night.

Owen Snisky led Jim Thorpe with three hits, while Kenny Pugh delivered a solo homerun.

Brandon Carroll, Aaron Joyce, Burkhart and Chris Micciche all finished as multiple hitters for Jim Thorpe.

Garry Buck and Chris MacNeal accounted for Weatherly's two hits.

Franklin Township-Hazleton

Franklin Township only needed two solid innings to escape with a 7-6 win over Hazleton to advance on in the loser's bracket of the tournament.

Ryan Andrew keyed Franklin Township's five-run third inning with a two-run single, which gave the visitors a 5-4 lead at the time.

Franklin Township build a 7-4 lead in the fourth innings when both Willy Knappenberger and Noah Fensinger, who both reached base on walks, scored on passed balls.

Damian Mele, who finished with the pitching win, added a single and a run scored.

Knappenberger led Franklin Township with a single and two runs scored, while Fensinger reached base twice and scored both times.

LV LEGION

Northern Valley put a two-game losing streak behind them with a 7-2 victory over host South Parkland.

Payton Bachman paced Northern Valley with two singles, three runs scored, two walks and two RBIs.

Jake Kern followed with a double, a run scored and three RBIs, while Sawyer Smith chipped in with a single and two RBIs.

Smith recorded the win on the mound behind a complete game, in which he finished with six strikeouts.

Northern Valley keeps a game and a half lead in the LVLBL standings as it moves to 12-3 on the season.
